    Brow Healing Guide

A day-by-day look at what to expect after your microblading or powder brow appointment—so you feel informed, calm, and confident throughout every stage.

Healing after a microblading or powder brow appointment is a process—and knowing what to expect at every stage makes all the difference.

Many clients are surprised by how dramatically their brows change in the days following their appointment. From bold and dark to light and patchy, the healing journey can feel unpredictable if you're not prepared.

This guide walks you through each phase of the healing process, so you know exactly what's normal, what to watch for, and how to care for your brows at every step.

    The Timeline

    Day-By-Day Healing Stages

    1
    Days 1–2

    Fresh & Defined

Your brows will look bold, sharp, and noticeably darker than your intended result. This is completely normal. The pigment sits on top of the skin and will begin to settle as healing begins. You may notice slight redness or tenderness around the brow area.

Tip:Keep brows dry and avoid touching them.

    2
    Days 3–4

    Slight Swelling & Thickening

As your skin begins to respond to the treatment, the brows may appear slightly thicker or puffier. The color will still look dark and defined. Some clients notice a mild tightening sensation around the brow area—this is your skin beginning to heal.

Tip:Continue keeping brows clean and dry. Avoid sweating or steam.

    3
    Days 5–7

    Peeling Begins

This is one of the most important stages. The outer layer of skin will begin to peel and flake away, and your brows may appear patchy or uneven. This is a natural part of the healing process. Do not pick, scratch, or peel the skin—let it shed naturally.

Tip:Do NOT pick at peeling skin. Picking can pull pigment and create gaps.

    4
    Days 8–10

    The 'Ghost Brow' Stage

After peeling, many clients experience what's known as the 'ghost brow' phase—where the brows appear extremely light or almost invisible. This can feel alarming, but it's completely normal. The pigment has temporarily retreated under the skin and will resurface as healing continues.

Tip:Trust the process. The color will return as your skin fully heals.

    5
    Days 11–21

    Color Returns & Softens

Over the following days, the pigment will begin to resurface through the healed skin. The color will return softer, more natural, and more tailored to your skin tone. This is the stage where your true healed result starts to emerge.

Tip:You may begin applying light moisturizer if the skin feels dry.

    6
    Weeks 4–6

    Fully Healed Result

By this point, your brows have fully healed. The color is settled, the shape is refined, and your result reflects the true outcome of your treatment. Some clients may notice areas where the pigment didn't retain as fully—this is why a touch-up appointment is offered.

Tip:Schedule your touch-up appointment 4–6 weeks after your initial session.

    What To Avoid During Healing

    Picking or scratching

Let the skin shed naturally to avoid pigment loss and scarring.

    Excessive sweating

Avoid intense workouts for the first 10 days.

    Sun exposure

Direct sunlight can fade pigment before it fully sets.

    Swimming or soaking

Avoid pools, hot tubs, and baths during the healing period.

    Makeup on the brow area

Keep products away from healing brows to prevent infection.

    Heavy moisturizers

Use only the recommended aftercare product during initial healing.

    About Your Touch-Up Appointment

A touch-up appointment is a normal and expected part of the microblading process. It's typically scheduled 4–6 weeks after your initial session, once your brows are fully healed.

This appointment allows us to refine the shape, fill in any areas where pigment didn't retain fully, and perfect your overall result. Think of your first appointment as the foundation—and your touch-up as the finishing layer.

Some clients love their healed result exactly as it is and choose not to come in for a touch-up. Others prefer the added definition. Both are completely valid.
